A two days Techno-Cultural Fest, “AAROHAN-2K18” spread on 25th and 26th Feb, 2018 was conducted on the lawns of the Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering & Technology.

The inaugural event started with lighting a traditional lamp by His Holiness Mahant Manjit Singh Ji, Sole Trustee, the Chief guest of the occasion Jenab Syed Mohammad  Altaf Bukhari, Hon’ble Minister for Education, J&K Government,  Chairman of the college Prof.(Dr.) O.S.Sudan, S. Sudershan Singh Wazir and others. Jb. Syed Mohammad  Altaf Bukhari was presented Momento and Shawl on the occasion by the Sole Trustee who also blessed the students and staff of the college for the success of the event as well as wished a bright future for the outgoing batch.

Prof.(Dr.) O.S.Sudan Chairman of the college in his inaugural address revisited the brief evolutionary history and background of the college since its inception in 1999 and highlighted the contributions made by Srimaan Mahant Bachittar Singh Ji and his present successor Sant of the Shromani Dera Nangli Sahib, poonch, Mahant Manjit Singh Ji the Sole Trustee of the Trust under the Aegis of which the college is being run. Apart from other things of relevance, the Chairman drew the kind attention of the Hon’ble minister for Education towards the significant contribution being made by the private sector in the field of education and the importance of providing unstinted support of the government for its sustenance of the same to the private entrepreneurs. The highlights of the achievements of the college especially in the field of academics and entrepreneurship as well as the contributions being made by upwards of about 4500 technical graduates thus far produced by the college.

Sudarshan Singh Wazir, part of the College Management and Ex-Chairman of the J&K State Gurudwara Prabandhak Board lauded the services of the Hon’ble Education Minister in the field of Higher Education with both head and heart. He also emphasized the necessity for reviewing the rules and statutes for the perennial continuation of the private institution assisting the Government.

In his address, Hon’ble Minister lauded the role of private institutions in imparting Higher Education in the state. He appreciated the college for having its huge infrastructure and ideal ambience. The Hon’ble education minister inspected evinced keen interest in the technical and other stalls setup by the students on different themes and innovative ideas. He encouraged the students for entrepreneurship and self-dependence. The Hon’ble Education Minister offered all sorts of possible help for the growth and development of the college on different fronts including its future expansions from the Government.

Cultural events on the First day started with Ganesh Vandana followed by cultural items depicting ethnic and local culture of different regions of the country. The events continued for the second day also in which about 200 students, artists showed their talent impressively. The culmination of the program was the presentation by the famous Punjabi Folk singers namely Mehtab Virk, Kamal Khan & Sarthi K which was simply mesmerized and attracted a huge audience. All through the two days, a number of innovative competitive events viz  Literary, Technical and intellectual orientation were organized by the college both by the students and the teaching staff.

On the conclusion of the cultural and other related events the participants were suitably felicitated by the Chairman Prof. (Dr.) Onkar Singh Sudan along with the senior administrative and teaching members of the staff.

The eminent dignitaries who encouraged the students and the staff on the occasion by their presence included Mr. Farooq Shah IAS Secretary school education J&K,S. Ravinder Singh (Director School Education), S. Arvinder Singh Aman (Additional Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages), Chairman of trust and other colleges,  S. Lakhbir Singh Bawa (Advisor), Prof. (Dr.) A. S. Sudan and Prof.(Dr.) S.K.Badyal (Ex-Principal), S. Mohinder Singh Ji (session Judge Retd.) Sdr. S.S.Bijral IGP(Retd.), S. Bhopinder Singh DIG Retd. S. Dayal Singh, S. Lachman Singh Gill (SP Retd.), eminent members of the civil society, Heads of the different Sikh organizations faculty members of  GCET Jammu, S. Guneet Singh (University of Jammu), Amrik Singh(Incharge Principal), S. Parveen Singh(Dean Academics), S.H.S.Gill (Director, Students Welfare).
